Michael Gordon

Michael has a background in economics and statistics, using his specialties as a data scientist. He is skilled in applying contemporary analytical approaches to provide robust and theory-based insights which are pragmatic and actionable.


Michael has nearly 10 years of experience in both consulting and research, and specialises in the analysis of economic data and economic modelling, having worked with local and central government agencies, universities, non-profits, and private companies. He has completed numerous economic impact analyses, cost benefit analyses, and econometric analyses, as well as online portals to provide clients with direct access to analytics and data query capabilities. 


Michael is an expert in forecasting, combining statistical (including machine learning) and economic modelling to provide future forecasts employment, tourism, exports, GDP, air pollution, and spatial growth of population, households and dwellings. 


Michael is actively involved in the research community, working with both local and international collaborators on large projects. His research has two key focuses: forecasting using both human and machine inputs and determining the reliability and robustness of published findings. He has presented this research in both published research journals and international conferences.


Michael is interested in the intersection of complex economic and statistical modelling techniques which help me to provide accurate and practical insights to clients.
